About Marie Weijler | CLO, Lipocoat
Marie Weijler LL.M MA joined LipoCoat in 2019 as Chief Legal Officer. She supports the Co-Founders with legal work, marketing and investor relations. Furthermore, Weijler works as an Investment Manager at Cottonwood Technology Fund, a Dutch-American venture capital fund specialized in high-tech and hardware. In her spare time, she is a member of the Grants Review Committee of the Dutch Research Council (NWO), assessing high-tech and life science startups that applied for €250K grants. Weijler is an honoree on the Forbes 30 Under 30 in the Finance category as well as one of Venture Capital Journal's 40 Rising Stars Under 40 2021.

Lipocoat is a life science spin-off from the renowned MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology at the University of Twente. Its innovation is a bio-inspired coating technology that prevents biofilm formation to reduce healthcare associated infections (HAI). The LipoCoat coatings thus enable sustainable infection control – no antibiotics, no toxic compounds, no side effects. They are based on self-assembly nanotechnology and are anti-fouling, bio-compatible, hydrophilic, cost-efficient, and scalable. They have a wide range of applications, including medical devices, R&D tools, in vitro diagnostics (IVDs), food and pharma.In the past 3 years, LipoCoat has won more than 20 awards, competitions and grants, including European Biotech Startup of 2019 and Best Medical Device Coatings Company of 2020.
