Cristina Martinez

Passionate and innovative leader with 10+ years of pharmaceutical experience in the industry as well as 7 years of research experience. Currently I am Sr. Director of Cell Therapy Manufacturing. I am leading an organization with > 300 pp consisting of Cell Therapy Specialists, Team leads, Process Engineers and (Sr.) Managers. I am keen to add value to the organization solving business challenges, to connect people and to deliver results. I am passionate about creating an inclusive, safe and open culture where people are empowered to build on each other’s ideas, collaborate and make decisions to bring the business to the next level. My drive is to coach and mentor leaders while ensuring that our female talent get the right level of exposure and development opportunities to advance in their careers as well as creating a culture where they feel heard and involved.

Elaine Lima de Souza

Dr. Elaine Lima de Souza has added value in commercial biotech positions with her business acumen and scientific research background (Molecular Medicine/Genetic Rare diseases). Although young in the industry (3 years), she reached a management position where she brings new strategies while leading a team. Elaine is “Carioca” with Dutch nationality, breaking the bias as a woman, ex-pat, and a scientist transitioning to a commercial management role. At GenScript, Elaine works to develop and execute the European marketing strategies and campaigns with a cross-functional approach with key account managers to define sales strategies, focusing on expanding business in Immuno-Oncology & Cell/Gene Therapy.

Ellen Lefever

I joined Agomab as General Counsel in 2021 and am responsible for the company’s legal affairs. I previously worked at Galapagos as deputy general counsel and started my career as an M&A lawyer in Belgium and New York.

I would love to win a TopX Females to Follow Award because I believe in the value of shining a spotlight on women in our industry. I am committed to speaking up for diversity and showing that inclusive teams deliver great work. Even for non-scientists, biotech offers fulfilling career paths for entrepreneurial women in law, business development, finance etc.

Vice President, Head of Translation Research, Genmab



Esther Breij

Esther Breij has worked on the discovery and development of therapeutic antibodies since 2008, with a focus on oncology. In her current role, she works with a team of translational research leads, scientists, research associates and other experts to design and execute the translational strategy for novel antibody compounds in preclinical or early clinical development. In addition, Genmab’s scientific communication department, which is embedded in Esther’s team, provides scientific communication and writing expertise for regulatory documents, posters, presentations and scientific manuscripts.

Esther has also worked at AIMM therapeutics from 2009-2011, focusing on discovery of patient-derived  antibodies for the treatment of infectious disease and cancer. Esther was trained as an immunologist, and obtained her PhD from the Amsterdam UMC (VUMC), and completed her MSc at Utrecht University and the University of Texas.

Juliette Audet

Juliette Audet is Partner at Forbion, where she invests in innovative biotech companies. She currently serves as a board member for NewAmsterdam Pharma,  Mestag Therapeutics and is an observer on the Board of Sitala Bio. Prior to joining Forbion, Juliette was a Principal at Novartis Venture Fund based in Cambridge (USA). Before that, Juliette was a Senior Manager of Strategy at Novartis AG, where she worked with the senior executive team of the Pharma division. Juliette spent the first 4 years of her career in management consulting at McKinsey and Company focusing on Pharma and Biotech, based out of the Swiss and then New York offices. Juliette graduated with distinction from Harvard Business School in 2015 (MBA) and received her MSc in Physics (Suma Cum Laude) from EPFL (Lausanne, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in 2010.

As an investor, Juliette is driven by bringing innovative technology and medicines to patients, improving their quality of life and curing their diseases. As a board member, Juliette is committed to the success of her companies, which lies not only in the quality of the science, but also the quality and diversity of the teams and their integrity. My name is Kristie Bass and I am Vice President of Clinical Operations for AM-Pharma which is based in Utrecht, the Netherlands.  I am honored to have been chosen as a nominee for the TOPX Females to Follow award in the category of INDUSTRY.  As a former Intensive Care Unit nurse, I have always had a passion for helping others, solving problems and striving to make a difference and this has carried over into my research career.  Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing group of women who are paving the way for the future in research!

Marieke Louwers

My name is Marieke Louwers and I am Director Strategic Alliances at argenx. I have a degree in chemistry and biotechnology and a PhD in molecular biology. After working in Agricultural Biotech for 10 years, I made the switch to human Drug Development. Always wanting to broaden my leadership skills and insights, I followed programmes in Management and then Corporate Finance at the Vlerick Business school. I strive to lead by example and love inspiring and energizing people and teams by building relationships and respecting others. I am honored to have been nominated and cannot wait to rise alongside other strong women in Life Sciences!

Marieke van der Lans

As CFO of Leyden Labs, Marieke is responsible for the finance, HR and IT teams of Leyden Labs, a very promising biotech developing a pipeline of mucosal protection products. With this role, Marieke is broadening her all-round experience in the health care industry, after previous roles at Menzis, St. Antonius Hospital and the Boston Consulting Group.

Megan Simpson

Megan dedicates her energy to growing mission-led businesses, bringing others along with her as she rises.

Her background in health sciences and innovation combined with her experience as a teenage cancer-carer brings the technical skill and emotional maturity needed to fulfill her mission in a unique and authentic way. As a former founder of a UK women-centric company, she holds championing equality and leading with integrity at the core of all her endeavours, often taking bold steps to challenge the status quo; she brings inspiration and energy to the room.Megan lives in The Netherlands where, besides her professional life, she has many creative passions.

Susanne Baars

Susanne is a mission-driven thought leader focused on shaping the future of precision medicine and oncology with a demonstrated track record of engaging others in a big vision to make personalised treatments accessible for all. She is advising cancer patients who fall between the cracks of healthcare, through access to expert oncologists who go the extra mile, genomics, and AI data-science drug discovery. She is establishing strong global relationships with healthcare executives, working alongside physicians, patients and governments, rolls out strategies and operations from zero to one, builds passionate teams and represents the need to intelligently re-design healthcare systems around patients as keynote speaker at conferences around the world. She formerly worked as a translational biomedical scientist at Harvard Stem Cell Institute, WHO, and Peking University.
