Aga Wegrzyn | CEO, Head of Tech & Co-Founder, EV Biotech

Aga Wegrzyn (1988) is the CEO and Head of Technology, and co-founder of EV Biotech B.V. Aga obtained her Bachelor and Masters degrees in Biotechnology at the Jagiellonian University in Poland. Afterwards, she decided to persue a PhD degree and moved to Groningen, where she studied inborn errors of metabolism in the context of computational biology and data integration. At the end of her PhD studies, she co-founded a company, EV Biotech driven by a dream of delivering sustainable products to the market via a sustainable, iterative and integrative R&D process involving both computational and experimental labs. Until October 2022, she also continued her academic career as a postdoc at Metabolomics and Analytics Center at Leiden University, where she was further exploring the methods to integrate the real-world data with computational models to develop predictive tools able to assist in personalized medicine applications. Aga is an alumni of several start-up and scale-up incubators and programmes (CDL, EFL, RISE by Techleap) and a winner of TopX Rising star - ENTREPRENEURSHIP 2022 by TOPX Network and Hyphen Projects.


EV Biotech

EV Biotech specialises in identifying fermentation-based solutions addressing sustainability and regulatory challenges for the production of novel biomaterials or small molecules, through an integrative and iterative process of strain engineering and optimisation involving computational lab and wetlab functions. Founded in 2018 in Groningen, the company has seen a stable growth, serving multiple industrial clients.
