It was estimated that a third of all the medicine users in the Netherlands, roughly 3.5 million citizens, experienced the implications of shortages in 2025. In this session, the MEB and the NVZA will explore the current and expected landscape of medicine shortages in the Netherlands, proving a podium for novel research to present insights of how (and why) medicine shortages arise. We will highlight the perspective of the patient, methods of future prediction, and supply chain risk factors against the backdrop of forthcoming policy measures.
