The Dutch Sectorplan Bèta-II (2023 – 2028) is a national initiative designed to strengthen research capacity, enhance collaborations, and address key societal challenges within the beta sciences. One of the sectors is the Pharmaceutical Sciences, and a framework was provided in the “Sectorbeeld 2020 Op weg naar een gezonde toekomst, Beeld van de Nederlandse Farmaceutische Wetenschappen” (can be found here: https://nlsectorplannen.nl/bestanden-beta-ii). This session will explore the focus points for Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Netherlands and outline what will be required in the future. In addition, particular focus will be given on the shared theme of predictive models with updates from researchers. Such models, including organ-on-chip, PBPK modelling and AI-based approaches, are increasingly important for improving translational success and enabling precision medicine. Together, these contributions will demonstrate how coordinated national efforts, as embodied in the Sectorplan, are important to reinforce the Ducth pharmaceutical sciences landscape.
