Nanomi, a Lupin Group Company, is leader in the field of microsphere and nanoparticle manufacture and development of long-acting release medicines. As a subsidiary of Lupin, Nanomi is the center of excellence of complex injectables.
With a strong focus on innovation, Nanomi is pushing the boundaries of pharmacotherapy with its cutting-edge technology in controlled long-acting release medication. The proprietary Microsieve technology allows Nanomi to produce well-defined biodegradable monodisperse microspheres and nanoparticles, with active pharmaceutical compounds encapsulated. It guarantees highly controlled and reproducible production of these medicines in a cost-effective way.

Thijs Duursma | Process Development Engineer | Nanomi

Thijs is a passionate and proactive process development engineer with a strong focus on the research and development of encapsulating active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) in biodegradable polymeric microparticles for the use as injectable pharmaceutical applications. With a solid background in nanotechnology and microfluidics, he has cultivated expertise in innovative techniques to produce this type of microparticles, like Solvent Evaporation, Phase Separation and Membrane Emulsification. He holds a Master of Science in Applied Nanotechnology and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, both from Saxion University of Applied Sciences. Throughout his academic and professional journey, he has developed proficiency in a wide range of analytical and formulation techniques, including SEM, Dynamic Image Analysis, UV-Vis spectroscopy, cumulative release and Coulter Counter. He is currently working at Nanomi, where he contributes to the process development in scaling the production of complex long-acting injectables (LAI) using membrane emulsification techniques.

Chiel Welink | Analytical Chemist | Nanomi

Chiel is a passionate analytical chemist, graduated from Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede, with a strong interest in pharmaceutical formulation and analytical science. At Nanomi, he has gained hands-on experience in the development and evaluation of injectable drug delivery systems. His work has centred on particle sizing, IVR testing (USPII and sample separate) HPLC method development, and syringe ability testing, all essential techniques for understanding and optimizing formulation performance. He has also supported developing protocols for animal trials, as well as on-site support, assisting with the preparation and analysis of test formulations. In addition to these core areas, he has also worked with DSC, appearance, container closure integrity, osmolality, and density measurements, adding depth to his understanding of formulation behaviour. His role at Nanomi reflects a practical, lab-based approach to pharmaceutical science, with a focus on precision, reproducibility, and real-world application.
