About Carl Moons | Professor of Clinical Epidemiology and director of research, UMC Utrecht - Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care and co-director, Health Innovation Netherlands
Carl Moons is professor of Clinical Epidemiology and director of research at the Julius Center, and affiliated to Oxford University (GB) and VanderBilt University (VS). His scientific career (>600 publications) focuses on methodological and applied studies on the impact of medical innovations for patients, citizens and healthcare. He is chair of the Dutch Reporting center for Unintended effects of Implants (‘Meldpunt en Expertisecentrum Bijwerkingen Implantaten’: MEBI) and co-director of the new nationwide infrastructure Health Innovation Netherlands (HiNL – www.healthinnovation.nl), that aims to evaluate and implement the right innovations in the right way for the right patients and citizens. He also chaired the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) committee ‘Evaluation of new technology in healthcare’ and is editor in chief of Diagnostic & Prognostic Research.
