SLAM Ortho develops smart surgical instruments for trauma surgeons operating on patients with broken bones. The current instruments available to decide on screw implant choice are cumbersome to use and often give the wrong indication. This often leads to complications and corrective surgery for patients, implant waste and requires unnecessary OR time.

Due to an increasing prevalence of bone diseases such as osteoporosis and changes in demography and lifestyle, the number of patients that require fracture surgery will significantly increase in the coming years, thus putting more pressure on the healthcare system. One of the founders of SLAM Ortho is a trauma surgeon and he experiences this on a daily basis. The company was founded to solve an issue he faces while treating patients.

Our patented sensor system can support the surgeon with data regarding the implant choice and bone topography. After developing successful prototypes that demonstrated accuracy in pre-clinical studies on both artificial bone and human cadaveric specimens, SLAM Ortho is seeking seed funding for the further development, CE-certification and clinical validation of its sensor platform for trauma surgery.
