About Richard van de Wateringen | CEO at Implant Preservation Devices BV
After graduating as Bachelor in Science, Richard started his business career in 1990 by joining Zimmer Holdings, a leader in the Orthopedic joint replacement industry.
Has held senior management roles in a number of leading Orthopaedic and Medical Device companies for the last 25 years in Northern-Europe and CIS. He launched groundbraking Orthopaedic implant devices in major markets and developed Orthopaedic businesses in emerging markets, before starting at IPD, a NLC-venture, in December 2020 as CEO.
IPD is developing a medical device using non-contact induction heating technology to treat Prosthetic Joint Infections. By using induction technology, the implant is heated while still inside the patient- eliminating bacteria and biofilm on the implant and ultimately curing the infection.
Prosthetic joint infection is a devastating and life threatening complication, with over 100 000 patients worldwide. Laboratory studies show a significant positive impact, using non-contact induction technology, on the treatment of these infections.
With a highly experienced team alongside CEO Richard van de Wateringen and our innovators, Professor Doctor R. Nelissen and Doctor B. Pijls, IPD aims at a multicentre study in 2023 and market introduction in late 2024.
