About Peter Bertens | Senior Policy Advisor, Vereniging Innovatieve Geneesmiddelen

Peter Bertens (1969) works as a senior policy advisor at Vereniging Innovatieve Geneesmiddelen, the Dutch innovative medicines association. At Nefarma, he represents the innovative pharmaceutical industry in discussions with the government, politics, science, health insurers and patient organizations. Themes that he works on include innovation, life sciences, biosimilars and orphan drugs. He studied Biology at Utrecht University, and obtained a PhD in molecular virology from Wageningen University. Peter has more than 10 years experience in advocacy for the biotechnology industry, working as senior policy advisor and later as acting general manager of Niaba, the Netherlands Biotechnology Industry Association. Presently, he is also secretary of the Forum for Biotechnology and Genetics, treasurer of FIGON and board member of NIBI, the Netherlands Institute for Biology.
